Early life
Morgan Wallen was born in Sneedville, Tennessee, on May 13, 1993, to Tommy and Lesli Wallen. Wallen took piano and violin lessons as a child. He aspired to play baseball in college but changed his mind after injuring his elbow.
Career in music
His mother auditioned him for ‘The Voice.’ Wallen had no idea what to expect, and he had never watched the whole. Usher chose him, and Adam Levine later stole him.
Wallen appeared on the sixth season of ‘The Voice’ in 2014. He was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. He began collaborating with Atom Smash’s Sergio Sanchez. Sanchez introduced Wallen to Panacea Records’ Bill Ray and Paul Trust.
He signed with Panacea Records the following year, and on August 24, 2015, he released an EP titled ‘Stand Alone.’ Dirk Hemsath of Working Group Artist Management sent a demo of Wallen to Seth England of Big Loud Shirt, who auditioned Wallen for his partners in Big Loud Records.
He signed with Big Loud Records in 2016 and released his debut single, ‘The Way I Talk.’ Wallen co-wrote Jason Aldean’s single ‘You Make It Easy’ the following year.
In 2018, Wallen released his self-titled debut album, ‘If I Know Me.’ The album’s second single, ‘Up Down,’ peaked at No. 16 on Billboard.
Wallen released ‘More Than My Hometown’ in 2020. On the 14th of August, Wallen released the song ‘7 Summers,’ and it broke the record for the most first-day streams.
His album ‘Dangerous: The Double Album’ debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart. It spent four weeks on the Canadian chart.
